Waiting...
Waiting well to be used by God
Waiting is painful. Pretty much everything in life is about waiting. Man desperately tries to close the gap between waiting and the object that waiting is exercised for by deludedly offering 'instant' solutions. In doing so, he sorely misses out on the lofty lessons that come with the waiting. The world of ministry is no different. Many from within Christian ministry blithely skip the sweet lessons that God ordains to be learned through waiting. Impatience and avarice like poison ivy subtly gain control of us and colour our perspectives. Eventually, we think we are entitled to a premature success without having to endure the constructive labour and ordeals in life.
What seems to be innocuous in the beginning gradually reveals itself to be detrimental to our spiritual growth since by the time we realised the error, it has already turned into an unvanquishable habit, almost taking root as part of our character. David, the epitome of waiting, like his forefather Abraham, urges us to "be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him." Committing our way to the LORD entails waiting. When this is done rightly, David says that the LORD will "make your vindication shine like the light." So, let us go with the strength of the LORD, wait for Him and not miss those ethereal lessons He has planned for us. For in learning them and appropriating them, we experience the true delight of God in our lives.
